A Parkway Pals strip I made for a birdhouse building contest.
Obviously, I can't be as edgy with these strips as I can be with DEAD DAYS, but I kind of like that. It really is a challenge to tone down your id. I have a newfound respect for the dude who draws the Family Circus. I feel like how Robert Rodriguez must when he's doing the Spy Kids films. More to come...

I'm glad to see that you added humor to these illustrations. I remember when I was a kid and upon seeing similar kid-friendly strips, absolutely hating them. Becuase they were bland and preachy. Nice to see you taking this up as a personal challenge.
I'm not a fan of Family Circus, but I never hated the strip, never felt the need to write to the editor asking him to take down the strip. (That honor went to Hagar the Horrible) But you're right, I do have a certain level of respect for Bill Keane- due not because of his simple, family-oriented jokes. No, it was due to his restriction of using a cricle bubble frame and ommiting his use of dialogue bubbles.
