Doggy with a Cone Oil Pastel by deaddays Doggy with a Cone Oil Pastel by deaddays
Um, so my sister wanted a painting of a doggy with a cone on his head for her friend. So I drew her a cute cartoon doggy. She said, "NO! I WANT A PAINTING DAMMIT!" I sighed and pulled out my oil pastels, dusted them off and told her, "THIS IS THE BEST YOUR GONNA GET FROM ME WOMAN!" and churned this piece out in a little under 2 hours. I hadn't used my oil pastels in a loooooong time, so I wasn't sure how well this was gonna turn out. But I guess some stuff never leaves you. I'm pretty happy of the piece all things considering. If anything, it's something different on my site for you to look at. Enjoy!

great piece =)

it's really grat to see one's art piece that is totally not in phase with the rest of his gallery ...
You could have been mre foolish with the colors (putting purple and violet and blue in the dogs shadows, to show more the volume ...)

But anyway it's an excellent work, and you show you can master more than one medium =)

continue !

Not anything like what you normally do! It's good for an artist to do different things, and not just get used to one style.

Not that I don't think the stuff you normally do is better...

MM, pastels. Yea they're pretty fun to use, and if you've had a few years experience with oils you'll find them VERY easy to manipulate and use it in ways you've never thought of before. Absolutely wonderful!! :D (Big Grin)

Looks nice ^^ I like that his nose is still cartoony-ish ^^ I suck at oil pastels.... I shoudl learn how to use them properly.

My dog had a cone on for awhile. At first she was miserable, and then she stopped caring when it bumped into things. Disaster.

i like the eyes.. their big and the little reflect of light makes you go "Aawww" when you see the dog.. so if that was the point, you made it .. : )

it is different from what you usually submit but when i saw your work of Johnny D. in "Fear and Loathing.." i was blown away, i had no idea you could do such thing (anything besides dead days i mean.. haha..ok).. and well that came out TOO good.. so im ready for anything..

It looks just like the little terrier dog from next door after our Great Dane attacked it, that was cool because the dog was mostly unhurt (nothing permenant) and It doesn't bark at us anymore (I say bark it was more of an obnoxious, high pitched, whiney, yap)

Very cute. I like the toning in the dog's fur, especially in the face. Fantastic for oil pastels!
